Taekwondo, the originator of Hallyu content, is developing poomsae incorporating traditional oriental medicine. This is to leap forward as a global healthcare content that can be used by anyone, regardless of age or gender, through scientificization and standardization through cooperation with specialized institutions.

The World Children's Taekwondo Union (President Park Soo-nam) announced on the 14th, "We had a meeting with the Korea Institute of Oriental Medicine, a traditional medicine partner of the World Health Organization (WHO), to find a way to scientifically develop 'meridian poomsae' based on the constitution of ideology."

President Park Soo-nam said, "I expect that cooperation with the Korea Institute of Oriental Medicine will be of great help to the scientific development of Taekwondo contents.” he said.

The development of 'meridian poomsae' combined with oriental medicine is considered one of the long-awaited projects for the globalization of Taekwondo contents. Many pointed out that the existing Taekwondo Poomsae movements, which consist of rather radical movements, are not receptive enough to be followed by both young and old, as well as young people in the growing age.

Previously, Union President Park Soo-nam and Spanish Instructor Kim Gook-joo had been working hard to develop the meridian poomsae that grafted Taekwondo with the ideological constitution of Korean traditional medicine, oriental medicine. It is judged that the development of a new poomsae suitable for the trainees' constitution and age will greatly contribute to the expansion of the trainee population.

Through this meeting, the two sides plan to sign a detailed MOU for strategic cooperation in the future and, based on this, start detailed implementation for national key support projects, such as the science of Taekwondo contents and global joint research projects.

Lee Jin-yong, director of the Institute of Oriental Medicine, said, "We will seek various ways to inform more than 100 million taekwondo practitioners and health-conscious people around the world about the preventive medical functions of taekwondo. "He said.

Meanwhile, at the meeting on the same day, the World Children's Taekwondo Union Demonstration Team showed the Meridian Poomsae Demonstration under the guidance of Spanish Instructor Kim Gook-ju, a world-renowned authority in the field of thought, leading to a positive response.
