KBS Highlights Senior Taekwondo Training in Muju, Korea’s Taekwondo City

On August 5th at 5:30 PM, KBS Jeonbuk (Korean Broadcasting System Jeonju Headquarters) aired a special feature on its program “Today Jeonbuk”, focusing on Meridian Poomsae (경락품세), a unique form of Taekwondo practiced by senior citizens for health and longevity.
The report was filmed in Muju County, known as “Taekwondo City”, and home to the world-renowned Taekwondowon.
The KBS crew visited a local training center where senior Taekwondo practitioners are actively preparing for the upcoming 2025 Muju Children’s Taekwondo Cultural Festa, showcasing Meridian Poomsae as both a martial art and a wellness practice.
As Korea faces a rapidly aging society, the segment highlighted how Meridian Poomsae offers physical and mental benefits for seniors, aligning with the nation’s vision for a healthier, more active 100-year life era.
The broadcast underscored Muju’s growing reputation as a global hub not only for competitive Taekwondo but also for its contributions to health, culture, and education through martial arts.
