The ‘Kim Hak-kon Solo Exhibition’, an invitational exhibition organized by the Korea Traditional Culture Center, will be held from October 3 to 16 at the Exhibition Hall of the Korean Traditional Culture Center in Jeonju, Jeollabuk-do.
Hak-kon Kim, a painter who has captured real landscapes in his canvases for 40 years, has built his own style by reinterpreting the styles that were popular during the Joseon Dynasty to fit the modern era.

Painter Hak-kon Kim mostly completes the scenery of the suburbs of Jeolla-do in the studio based on field drawing.
Seon-tae Kim, director of the Korean Traditional Culture Center, said, “Artworks that apply modern perspective to traditional Korean paintings have overall tolerance so that the eyes are not focused on one place, and give us the freedom to dig deeper. It creates an emotion that evokes a longing for a return or return to the hometown, which is different from the humanistic environment.”

Director Kim said, “Hak-kon Kim devotes himself to thorough reflection on his work and new explorations.” “I think this is a meeting between traditional ink painting and modern ink painting because it is an attempt to explore the more fundamental essence of Korean landscape painting.” .
