WCTU Holds Senior Poomsae Demonstration Featuring “Meridian Poomsae” for Upcoming Competition
The World Children Taekwondo Union (WCTU), led by President Rhee Sang-gi , is accelerating its long-term project to systematize, standardize, and formalize “Meridian Poomsae.”
In line with this initiative, the WCTU held a health and healing poomsae demonstration on the 20th to commemorate the designation of its new Central Training Center, which will serve as a hub for the research and education of meridian poomsae. This demonstration will also be featured at the “Meridian Poomsae Competition” for senior taekwondo teams during the upcoming 2025 Muju Children's Taekwondo Culture Festa in September.
The official designation of Taegangwon Taekwondo Gym in Gangseo-gu, Seoul, as the Central Training Center was aimed at fostering a structured approach to meridian poomsae and nurturing professional instructors.

Beyond serving as a mere training facility, the center is expected to evolve into a global education hub. The WCTU plans to use this opportunity to build a comprehensive Taekwondo education infrastructure that caters to both children and seniors.
Meridian poomsae is gaining attention as a unique training method involving movements that stimulate the body’s meridian points, which has been proven to activate the brain and promote emotional stability.
The WCTU plans to integrate this “intelligent Taekwondo content” into both domestic and international public education systems, as well as senior welfare programs in the future.
