[COLUMN] World Children Taekwondo Union's 'Merdian Poomsae and Columbus' discovery of a new continent
In 1492, Columbus discovered a new world.
At that time, those who thought outside the existing framework were driven into heresy.
But Columbus, who had a special dream in the sad atmosphere of medieval Europe.
It is regarded as a symbol of the spirit of challenge.
It is also criticized for committing evil acts, such as slaughtering indigenous people and selling them as slaves, but it was certainly a great achievement to change the international paradigm at the time by pursuing new things.
Historical evaluation is bound to differ depending on the viewpoint and position.
However, the challenges of a reckless dreamer or idealist eventually changed the world and rewritten history.
Columbus had an extraordinary dream in an era when he believed that there was a cliff at the end of the sea.
It was believed that the earth was round and the sea was endless.
But he's the aristocrats of that era were jealous and mocked Columbus, who was from Italy, calling him a wacky dreamer.
No one has acknowledged or supported his dream.
Columbus, however, finally realized his dream until the end.
In this regard, the World Children Taekwondo Union is seeking a bold plan to bring the existing children back to the elderly trainees through the Merdian Poomsae.
Everyone has no objection to the fact that our national flag Taekwondo has now expanded its base worldwide.
After being included in the 1988 Summer Olympics as an Olympic demonstration event for the first time, it was adopted as an official event at the 2000 Summer Olympics, and now Taekwondo is almost the only Olympic event that even the underprivileged countries can win a Taekwondo medal.
Looking back on the past fifty years of Taekwondo history, efforts have been made to make it popular and up-to-date through game regulations, house calls, and scoring methods since it was adopted as an official Olympic event, but it is said that the R&D achievements and achievements for the industrialization of Taekwondo have been somewhat small.
As a result, the federation had the idea to approach our national flag Taekwondo scientifically in terms of education, culture, and health.
The reaction of the existing Taekwondo community must be somewhat cynical.
It is natural for an organization with the main target of children's taekwondo to question and criticize how effective an attempt to include the silver industry for the elderly and a collection of just a few masters will be.
The problem varies slightly from country to country, but it is estimated that about 10-20% of all children (ages 6 to 13) are currently trainees and experienced children.
There is a Korean proverb that says, "The habit of three years old goes to eighty." The movement I learned when I was young is that resilience is easily revived even when I become an elderly person.
In this regard, the World Children Taekwondo Unionn Merdian Poomsae is simply a good startnand clue.
However, it is clear that it is a material that will be an important tool as a silver industry in the era of children's growth and development, brain concentration, and aging.
Everyone is clumsy and humble at first.
From a visionary's point of view, any challenge to a new direction is difficult, but I think the attempt is definitely meaningful.
However, because the World Children Taekwondo Union has a clear goal, passion is exerted in all the difficulties, and because of passion, it is to overcome.
It is a subtle thing that cannot be compared to the Columbus situation or task of discovering a new world, but it is clearly only gradually adding to the plan with the determination and determination to open the second Taekwondo Renaissance era.
I remember the proverb, "The beginning is half and the path is one step." At the same time, I recall Columbus's creed.
Columbus said at the time, "You can't see the New World if you follow the old map."
And finally, I discovered the Americas with intense passion and a sense of challenge.
That very statement and historical facts may be encouraging to our federation.
