On August 12, 1993, President Kim Young-sam issued an emergency financial and economic order. Immediately, all financial transactions were prohibited under a pseudonym, borrowed name, or bearer name, and measures were taken to ensure that transactions were made under a real name.

In the end, this event was recorded as one of the most decisive scenes in Korean modern history along with the dissolution of the Hanahoe, the central axis of the military dictatorship. However, this was shockingly bad news for the chaebols and big loan sharks who are based in Myung-dong, the heart of Seoul, and panic rich people decide to buy a safe, and itis said that it has become fashionable to withdraw money from the bank in someone else's name or under a pseudonym and store it in a personal safe.

There was another incident that shook the Republic of Korea at the time, and this was the case of a daring thief who was called 'Myeongdong Lupine' and the serial vault robbery of the chairman's safe of office of a large corporation.

The amount of crime stolen at that time was beyond imagination. It was said that 20 billion won in cash, 30 billion won in securities such as checks, government bonds, and CDs, and about 10 billion won worth of bones, jewelry, watches, and jewelry. If we convert the monetary value of that time into the current monetary value, it was a case of stealing a safe that stole more than 500 billion won, so the scale was really great.

This case was a very rare case that came and went like the wind without leaving any traces or evidence, then robbed only the safe and disappeared like the wind.

At the time, this case was a topic of great interest between the judicial and investigative agencies, but the reason why it was not widely known to the general public compared to the size of the case is also interesting.

The reason this case was not covered much in the media was because, ironically, the victims did not want the case to be made public. It is said that the suspicious money must have been in the safe, so the victims did not want to let the world know how much was stolen from their safe.
In fact, there was even an anecdote that the company blocked the publication of the article when the media started covering it, so we can only guess how big the underground economy would be, which is not captured in the official statistics at the time.

Another surprising thing is that, despite the fact that the former investigative agency at the time engaged in the investigation at the cost of a special promotion, the arrest of the criminal was not the result of a meticulous investigation such as the collection of evidence and the narrowing of the investigation network. Wouldn't it be surprising to say that if the accomplice had not reported the culprit, the criminal could not have been caught forever.

Now that this interesting case is finally being made into a movie, I can't help but wonder how and how someone robbed the vaults of so many presidents' rooms without leaving any evidence.

According to the production company InterBD Ent (Chairman Shin Young-hak), we recently contacted the person who was the culprit in this case, and after a long period of persuasion, we agreed to make it into a film. It is said that he was handed over a manuscript with detailed descriptions.
In addition, in order to make this case into a movie, film director Hwang Il, who has been tracking the case for a long time, has been appointed as the director of the movie 'Lupin'.
Based on the memoir written by the criminal of the current case, the director Hwang il is working on the screenplay for 'Lupin', and he plans to finish the screenplay in July and cast the lead actor.

InterBD Chairman Shin Young-hak said that the net production cost will be 10 billion won, and he expects the talented and soulful director Hwang Il to be fully demonstrated through 'Lupin'. The movie 'Lupin' is expected to be a masterpiece that takes advantage of the dynamic and thrilling storyline, retro style music of the 80s and 90s, and the sensibility of the times.
